Singapore University of Technology and Design, Saturday, September 9, 2017 – A faster and more experienced Nanyang Technological University (NTU) overran Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) 74-19 in their opening match of the Singapore University Games Netball Championship.

Quicker in their passings and attacks, goal attack Tessa Wong gave NTU a 22-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. SIT put up a more credible showing in the second and fourth quarters, though they struggled with NTU’s dynamic, fast play.

“We gave our best in this game. Many of our teammates are new to netball, so I’m really proud of them, keeping their heads up in all four quarters,” said SIT captain Wong Yuan Min. “To have such a result, it shows the team spirit and perseverance of our team.”

SIT was realistic about the task on their hands, electing to focus on their team performance instead of the result.

“We didn’t want to look at the results, we want to focus on improving as a team and coming back stronger next year,” Yuan Min added.

NTU will face SIM in the next game while SIT will play against SMU. Both games will be played on Monday, September 11, 2017, at SUTD, Sports and Recreational Centre.
