OCBC Arena, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 — Anglo-Chinese School International (ACSI) took down Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) 55-35 in their last game of the National A Division Basketball Championship.

With this win, ACSI end their season with a 3-2 win-loss record. They defeated Saint Andrew’s Junior College (SAJC) and Jurong Junior College (JJC) but lost to Nanyang Junior College (NYJC) and Serangoon Junior College (SRJC). They finished third in Group D.

On the other hand, ACJC end their season with a 0-5 win-loss record. They lost to NYJC, SRJC, JJC, and SAJC previously. They finished last in the group.

ACSI had a strong first quarter. Matthew Lee (ACSI #4) knocked down two three-point shots to go with his eight first-quarter points. ACSI also played well on the defensive end to limit ACJC to just six points while they score 16 of their own.

However, ACJC did not let that affect them and continued to play ball in the second quarter. They upped their defensive intensity and were successful in containing ACSI to just seven points. However, they could not find their mark and only managed to score eight points to cut the lead down to nine.

Heading into the fourth, ACJC were just down 10 points. They got into a groove and started to hit their shots. However, at the same time, ACSI found their rhythm as well. ACJC fought hard to stay in the game but it was ACSI who came out on top with their smooth plays.

ACSI put the pedal to the metal and went on an offensive surge to outscore ACJC by 10 points in the fourth. This sealed the deal as ACSI triumphed over ACJC to get the 55-35 victory.

ACSI captain, Sean Low (ACSI #7), commented, “I think even though at some point our shots were off, we still played with heart and as it was our last game, we put our all into it and that’s what matters. To my teammates, I really hope that we take our experience from these games and carry it along to whatever future endeavors we have.”
