Hougang Sports Hall, Friday, March 24, 2017 — Orchid Park (OP) Secondary defeated Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) 5-0 in Round 2 of the National B Division Floorball Championship.
This win improves Orchid Park to a 7-1 win-loss record. Their sole loss was to Raffles Institution.
ACS Barker drop to a 3-1-4 win-draw-loss record after previously losing to Meridian Secondary, Raffles Institution and Bedok South Secondary.
The first period saw Orchid Park on the defensive. Goalkeeper Jay Wong (OP #1) saved two shots with his body to keep ACS Barker from scoring. With 7 minutes remaining, Koh Wei Long (OP #18) finally broke the stalemate with a shot to give Orchid Park a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period.
Koh Wei Long (OP #18) scored his second goal in the second period to stretch the lead to 2-0. ACS had two open shots but fired high.
ACS maintained their composure and had possession but still trailed by two goals heading into the final period.
Down to the last period, Orchid Park gave away a penalty shot but Abdul Hakeem (ACSB #7) missed. Orchid Park wasted no time in scoring their third goal through Tan Zhi Kai (OP #14) right after the missed penalty shot.
Koh Wei Long (OP #18) and Tan Zhi Kai (OP #14) then scored the fourth and fifth goal respectively to pull away with a 5-0 lead after working closely together.
Undaunted, ACS barker fought back to score a consolation but found it hard to penetrate the Orchid Park defense.
The final period concluded with Orchid Park leading 5-0 over ACS Barker.
Orchid Park’s Koh Wei Long (#18) said, “We made a lot of movements and passes today to win the game. However, in the last period, we were tired and lost our momentum and focus.”
