Anglican High School, Thursday, January 26, 2017 — Dunman High (DH) got off to a slow start but rallied to defeat Bedok View (BV) 46-34.
Lee Wen Liang (BV #1) had a game-high 12 points while Kinczel Tan (#8) had a team-high 10 for Dunman High.
This is the first game of the season for Dunman High and they will face Anglican High in their next match. Bedok View had lost their previous game 33-51 to Anglican High, and will play their next game against Greenview.
Dunman High started off slow. They trailed by 4 points at the end of the first quarter. Unaffected, they stepped up their defensive game in the second quarter and went on an 18-2 run.
However, Dunman High lost their momentum and made several mistakes in the second half. They did not communicate their passes which caused the ball to go out of bounds on several occasion.
Bedok View also caused several turnovers in the second half but failed to capitalize on these offensive opportunities. Dunman high eventually pulled through and won.
Captain Avner Tan (DH #5) said, “Our defense today was extremely sloppy. We were watching the ball and not moving our legs. We did not close the lane when needed and did not secure the rebound with our box out. There was also lack of communication. We need to wake up and learn from this game as we are up against Anglican next.”
Captain Lee Wen Liang (BV #1) said, “We played badly in our first match against Anglican High but we improved for this match. There was fighting spirit and our defense stepped up a lot. My team hustled well and defended well.”
