Hougang Sports Hall, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 — Down by one goal, Kent Ridge Secondary (KR) managed in the last minute to tie it up at 3-3 with Hillgrove Secondary (HG) in the National B Division Floorball Championship.

Both teams had lost their opening games of the championship. Kent Ridge went down 2-9 to Bukit Merah while Hillgrove lost 1-8 to Loyang.

The fast paced Kent Ridge stole the first goal in the 21st minute of the game but Hillgrove were not affected and equalised shortly after.

Both teams traded goals and the game play was a stalemate at 2-2. With two minutes left, Hillgrove broke through and captain Ahmad Husaini (HG #26) scored the go-ahead goal with 1 minute 46 seconds left to play.

Not letting that faze them, the relentless Kent Ridge began their counterattack. They passed the ball calmly and waited for the perfect chance to strike.

Spotting the loophole in the Hillgrove’s defence, Ivan Lee (KR #10) took the chance and scored a clutch goal to end the game in a 3-3 tie.

Captain Ahmad Husaini (HG #26) said, “I feel that the team can improve on our passes and communication more, like shouting for the ball more. Kent Ridge played a really fast, fast game. But the team has improved a lot since first match.”

Rico Tan (KR #13) also said, “We can improve more on our mentality and communication wise.“

His teammate Lai Hong Ze (KR #6) added, “We could have won, we were about the same but we did not improve from our first game.”
