Singapore Basketball Centre, Monday, April 11, 2016 – Temasek Junior College (TJC) defeated Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) 39-31 for their first win of the National A Division Boys Basketball Championship.

Irwin Tay (#30) of ACJC had a game-high 10 points.

The win improved TJC to a 1-1 win-loss record while ACJC fall to 1-1.

TJC had lost their opening game 41-91 to Raffles Institution while in their opener, ACJC had beaten Victoria Junior College 31-21.

A low-scoring first quarter saw most of the points coming from free throws because the players were aggressive. The quarter ended with TJC leading 5-3.

ACJC had the better of the second quarter, forcing TJC into turnovers, and outscoring them 12-7 to establish a 15-12 lead at half time.

The third quarter was another low-scoring affair that TJC edged, with no scoring until late. With 10 seconds to go, Bryan Tan (TJC #11) scored from a layup, drew a foul, and sank his free throw to give TJC a 20-19 lead to take into the fourth quarter.

TJC dominated the last quarter, outscoring ACJC 11-1 to pull away for the 31-20 win.
