Yishun Sports Hall, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 — Tanjong Katong Secondary (TKS) defeated Coral Secondary (CS) 5–4 to finish third in the National B Division Girls Floorball Championship.

The top scorers of this game were Mavis Ng (TKS #38) and Jocelyn Toh (CS #9) with two goals each.

Both teams fought neck-and-neck, exchanging leads throughout the thrilling encounter. Mavis Ng (TKS #38) opened the scoring for Tanjong Katong, with Jocelyn Toh (CS #9) replying immediately after to level the scores at 1–1.

Jocelyn Toh (CS #9) then netted another goal in the last two minutes of the first period, hitting a clean shot into the top left corner of the net, making it 2–1 to Coral. Thereafter, Tanjong Katong had several good attempts at goal, but Coral’s goalkeeper was equal to the task.

Just a minute into the second period, Yasmin Namira (TKS #36) slotted the equalising goal into the bottom right corner of the net. Coral, however, refused to back down and they soon wrestled back the lead (3–2) through a goal by Erin Ng (CS #25).

Tanjong Katong then retaliated with another goal almost instantly as Mavis Ng (TKS #38) controlled the ball from the wing and drove the ball into the top corner of the net, making it 3–3 going into the crucial final period.

Both teams remained scoreless in the first half of the last period. That changed in the last five minutes when Regina Ong (CS #21) shot successfully with an assist from Jocelyn Toh (CS #9), giving Coral a 4–3 lead.

Tanjong Katong, though, were not ready to throw in the towel as a penalty by Mavis Ng (TKS #38) was successfully converted, making it 4–4 and giving Tanjong Katong renewed belief.

In the last two minutes of the game, Tanjong Katong continued to pressure Coral with their aggressive offense. Shots at goal were aplenty but Coral’s goalkeeper managed to keep her team in the game.

Unfortunately, it was her unlucky mistake that turned out to be the game decider. As a Tanjong Katong shot came in, Coral’s goalkeeper managed to get fingers to the ball but it somehow slipped off her hands and into the net for 5–4.

By the time, there was not much time left on the clock for Coral to salvage anything. As the final buzzer came, the Tanjong Katong girls huddled in elation.
