Hougang Sports Hall, Monday, March 28, 2016 — Tanjong Katong Secondary kept their destiny in their own hands with a straightforward 3-0 victory over Bedok South Secondary in round two of the National B Division Floorball championship.

Tanjong Katong improved to 3-0-1 in round two and 8-0-1 on the season having won all five of its matches in round one. Their only defeat came earlier in the round against Bukit Merah, which has already secured a semi-final spot. With the defeat, Bedok South remain rooted to the bottom of Group Y after its fourth defeat in as many games in round two.

Mavis Ng (TK #38) scored a brace to lead Tanjong Katong closer to a place in the final four, while Yasmin Namira Bte Mohammad Y (TK #36) added one more in the final period.

Mavis (TK #38) got the ball rolling with a long range turnaround effort to put her team up 1-0 after one period. Tanjong Katong had chances to extend their lead and they came closest when a shot cannoned off the crossbar.

Mavis (Tk #38) completed her brace in the 2nd period when her shot found the top corner. Yasmin Namira Bte Mohammad Y (TK #36) then rounded things off with 3:54 left in the game and sealed a 3-0 win for Tanjong Katong.

A victory in their final second round game against CHIJ St Theresa’s Convent will guarantee a spot in the semis for Tanjong Katong.

Tanjong Katong next face CHIJ St Theresa’s Convent at 1pm on Wednesday, March 30 and the game will be played at St Gabriel’s Secondary School. Bedok South will face East View in its final game of the season, face-off is at 2.15pm on Wednesday, March 30 at Coral Secondary. The semis will be played on Friday, April 1 at Yishun Sports Hall.
