PESEB, Wednesday, March 2, 2016 — Anglo Chinese School (Barker Road) (ACS(BR)) led throughout the game to beat Saint Andrew’s Secondary (SAS) 16-6 in the National B Division Water Polo Championship.

This is ACS(BR)’s first win of the season and SAS’ second loss.

Yan Xuan (ACS(BR) #3) led his team his team with six goals while Zachary (SAS #8) scored two.

From the first quarter, ACS(BR) dominated with their relentless offense. Their quick passes enabled them to get closer to score. Their aggressive defense also helped them to intercept SAS’ passes and gain possession. ACS(BR) led 8-0 after the first quarter.

The second quarter saw SAS tightening up their defense and they were able to prevent ACS(BR) from making clear passes to one another. However, their aggressive defense also drew a few penalties. ACS(BR) scored on their penalty goals to widen the lead.

The first half ended with ACS(BR) leading 11-0.

The second half saw much of the same as ACS(BR) continued to dominate the game to widen the lead. However, a careless pass by ACS(BR)’s goalkeeper saw SAS intercepting the ball and scoring their first goal in the third quarter. SAS managed two goals in the quarter as they trailed 2-16 heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter saw SAS becoming more aggressive in their offense. They were able to weave past ACS(BR)’s defense on four occasions to score while holding their opponents scoreless.

However, the huge deficit was too large to overcome and ACS(BR) wrapped up the win, 16-6.

ACS(BR) captain, Kaydon Lim (#1) said, “We played relatively well but overconfidence got the better of us towards the end of the game and we allowed the other team to score goals. We will do whatever it takes to achieve our team goal of being first.”
