Singapore Basketball Centre, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 – North Vista Secondary (NV) triumphed 53-46 over Deyi Secondary (DY) in the North Zone B Division Basketball semi-final.

Joanne Lim (#12) from Deyi scored an impressive game-high 24 points while Lydia Ang (NV #7) led her team to victory with 21 points.

The game started off with North Vista taking the lead as Deyi struggled to break through North Vista’s impenetrable defence. North Vista led by five points at 7-2, prompting Deyi to call a timeout.

After the timeout, Deyi started to gain on North Vista and scored consecutive baskets. Joanne Lim (Deyi #12) sank a 3-pointer towards the end of the opening quarter to bring the score close at 13-12 in North Vista’s favour.

In the second quarter, Deyi quickly equalised with fast plays and accurate shots. On the other hand, North Vista found it difficult to score as Deyi played a tight zone defense that pressured North Vista into bad shots.

Led by Joanne Lim’s (Deyi #12) two 3-pointers, Deyi raced into a 29-26 lead to end the second quarter.

North Vista were determined to regain the lead and made a strong comeback in the third quarter. Lydia Ang (NV #7) was responsible for the under basket shot that helped her team tie it up at 30-30. North Vista never looked back from that point on and went on a 9-0 run before Deyi started to pick up the pace. The third quarter ended 45-38 to North Vista.

Both teams gave it their all in the last quarter and were evenly matched. Deyi capitalised on lay-ups and free throw opportunities while North Vista sank two three pointers to tie the last quarter 8-8. North Vista ultimately claimed victory with the final score 53-46.

North Vista next face SCGS in the final on Tuesday, March 1 while Deyi will go up against Christ Church for the 3rd/4th placing.
