OCBC Arena, Friday, February 12, 2016 — Guangyang Secondary maintained a strong lead from start to finish with their aggressive offence and defence to triumph 49-32 over Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary in Round 2 of the South Zone B Division Basketball Championship.
Huen Tat Zhang (#8) of Kuo Chuan Presbyterian bagged a game-high 12 points, while #14 of Guangyang scored 11 points for his team.
The match was physical, with Guangyang in particular exhibiting fierce man-to-man defence. In a scramble for the ball, #12 of Guangyang took a hard fall barely 2 minutes into the game.
Kuo Chuan Presbyterian attempted to shoot 2-pointers on multiple occasions but their rebounding was weak. Guangyang took advantage of this to score more frequently with their strong offence.
Kuo Chuan put in effort to close the widening score gap by attempting 3-pointers. Unfortunately, their attempts were futile.
Fortunately for Kuo Chuan, Guangyang seemed to lose their momentum and was unable to score for the first five minutes of the 2nd quarter.
Guangyang, however, managed to secure a 6-point run in the final 3 minutes of the quarter, ensuring that they led by 31-12 at half time.
In the second half of the game, Guangyang exhibited good decision-making and teamwork to get the ball to undefended teammates to score.
Despite trailing, Kuo Chuan Presbyterian retained their competitive spirit throughout the game. They managed to outscore Guangyang 12-5 in the final quarter to narrow the deficit before going down 32-49 to Guangyang.
