Clementi Sports Hall, Wednesday, February 10, 2016 — Kranji Secondary (KSS) edged out Zhenghua Secondary (ZHS) 38-36 in the West Zone B Division Basketball Championship.

This was Kranji’s second win in three games, while this was Zhenghua’s first loss after two earlier wins.

Edison Tan (KSS #7) had a game high of 11 points while Tan Junyong (ZHS #35) had a team high of 9.

Zhenghua dominated the first quarter to lead 11-5 after the first 10 minutes as they quickly got accustomed to the game. Kranji, on the other hand, were still trying to keep up.

Kranji gained more momentum and hit back in the second quarter, as they outscored Zhenghua 13-5 to narrow the gap and trail by only two points (16-18) at half time.

Kranji took a 29-23 lead into the final quarter but Zhenghua outscored them 11-7 in the final quarter. However, Kranji had done enough to emerge victorious by just two points, with the Kranji players breaking out in smiles at the final buzzer.

Kranji captain, Brandon Ng (KSS #8), said, “Even though we made a lot of mistakes in the game, we fought back with greater force so as to make up for it. Our teammates put up a good defense today.”
