Clementi Sports Hall, Wednesday, February 10, 2016 – Jurongville Secondary (JV) beat New Town Secondary (NT) 46-41 in the West Zone B Division Basketball Championship.

The win, their third in a row, gave Jurongville top spot in their group. This was New Town’s first defeat and they finished in second place. Both teams are through to Round 2.

Terry Lim (JV #11) had a game high of 15 points while Patrick (NT #13) had a team high of 13.

Aaron (NT #10) and teammate Hwee Yong (#11) got the scoring going for New Town, inviting loud cheers from the New Town bench. However, this scenario did not last long as Jurongville replied. Jurongville edged New Town 12-11 at the end of the first quarter.

A low-scoring second quarter saw Jurongville outscore New Town by 3 points to take an 18-15 lead into half time.

Jurongville kept their noses in front in the third quarter, edging New Town 14-13 to take a 32-27 lead into the fourth.

With 5 minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter, New Town managed to take a 37-36 lead. However, Jurongville eventually emerged victorious over New Town with a score of 46-41.

Jurongville captain, Collin Tan (JV #5), said, “I think it was difficult to match up to the game’s pace due to the long Chinese New Year break. I feel that we can do better for our next game and gradually improve along the way as we play more consecutive games.”
