Hougang Sports Hall, Monday, February 1, 2016 — Northbrooks Secondary (NBS) maintained their strong performance with a 9-4 win over Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) (ACSBR). It was their second victory in the National B Division Floorball Championship.

Edry (NBS #10) was the top scorer three goals, while Abdul Hakeem (ACSB #7) had two.

Edry (NSS #10) scored the first goal less than a minute into the game with a point-blank shot. However, Northbrooks goalkeeper Lucas (NSS #2) made a few saves to prevent Northbrooks from scoring even more.

A consequent timeout in the seventh minute led to more aggressive play and the period ended with Northbrooks leading 2-0.

The second period of the game saw Hyu Seong (ACSBR #8) score his team’s first goal two minutes in with a close-range shot.

Northbrooks defended aggressively, forcing many ACS(BR) turnovers. This aggression paid off, as Northbrooks surged ahead to lead 5-1 by the end of the period.

The third period saw a lapse in the Northbrooks defence as they allowed ACS(BR) to score in the final three minutes.

A close-range shot by Alexander (ACSBR #11) got past Northbrooks goalkeeper Muhammad Akid (NSS #99). Abdul Hakeem (ACSBR #77) swiftly followed with two goals within 10 seconds of each other in the final two minutes.

However, this could not stop Northbrooks from winning 9-4 and improving their chances of qualifying for Round 2.

Northbrooks captain, Muhammad Abdul Raziq (#13), said, “It was a tough and competitive match. We were very focused on winning so that we have a better chance of moving on to the next round. We listened to what our coach said and played accordingly, and I’m happy with our performance.”
