Ngee Ann Polythecnic, Friday, January 22, 2016 – Nanyang Technological University (NTU) defeated Temasek Polytechnic (TP) 69-44 to secure a spot in the final of the Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Basketball Championship.

Amelia Lee (NTU #10) and Sharon Lee (TP #21) both were join-top scorers with 18 points each.

It was a close start as both teams traded baskets before NTU’s Shermaine See (#7) shot a 3-pointer to gain the lead. NTU kept their lead throughout with their fast plays and aggressive defence to end the first quarter leading 21-8.

NTU continued to dominate as Amanda Lim (NTU #9) sank a 3-pointer to start the second quarter. TP could not counter NTU’s tight defence and only managed to score three points for that quarter as they trailed 11-34 at half time.

TP, led by Sharon Lee (#21) who scored two 3-pointers in the third quarter, tried to close the gap. However, NTU continued to pull away and ended the quarter with a 27-point, 57-30 lead.

TP outscored NTU 14-12 in the last quarter but it was not enough as NTU won the game 69-44.

Amelia Lee (NTU #10) said, “It was quite okay, there were stretches of good and bad but of course we want it and we played better than the previous few games.”

She added, “I’m just glad that we won and just want to keep focused because the competition is not over yet. We have to be prepared for the next game.”

NTU will be facing Singapore Management University (SIM) in the final while TP will play National University of Singapore (NUS) in the 3rd/4th placing game.
