Singapore Basketball Centre, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 — In their final preliminary round game of the North Zone C Division Girls’ Basketball Championship, Yishun Secondary edged out Nan Chiau High 22–21 to safely secure a spot in the second round.
The slim one-point victory is Yishun’s fourth straight. Unfortunately for Nan Chiau, the loss is their second, and they will miss out on a qualification for the second round.
Yishun were led by Lee Jia Ying (#12), who had a game-high 12 points, while Cheryl (#9) led Nan Chiau with 9 points.
Yishun held on to the lead through three quarters, but managed to survive a huge fourth quarter effort from Nan Chiau. Jermaine (#10) and Cheryl (#9) helmed Nan Chiau’s comeback attempt with six and three points respectively, but it was just a single point short of tying the game.
Nan Chiau will next face Fuchun Secondary in their final game of the season. The game will be played at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 10, at the Singapore Basketball Centre.
