Sengkang Hockey Stadium, Saturday, June 6, 2015 – Singapore drew 1-1 with Myanmar in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games men’s hockey tournament.

Zaw Hein Min (#6) of Myanmar scored the first goal after converting a penalty corner in the 26th minute.

Singapore managed a equaliser through Noor Silas (#12) and the score remained unchanged at half time.

The second half ensued with both sides going hard on the offense but neither team could convert their chances. The match ended with a 1-1 draw.

Team Singapore’s captain, Marican Enrico (#5) said, “I think we had a lot of chances. But this time we tried to keep the ball speed high, which I think we did, but just that our basics let us down. If our basics was slightly better and tighter, I think we could’ve played around them and got the goals.”

Looking forward, Enrico added, “As for our basics, we’ve got to keep it tight. And hopefully, this is the first game, so I’m sure that for the young guys, it’s a bit nervous for them and with this great crowd outside here cheering us on no matter what, it’s good. So, definitely we want a better result.”

Singapore will next play Malaysia on Monday, June 8, 7.15pm.
