A Division girls' 4x100m relay

Choa Chu Kang Sports Stadium, Wednesday, April 22, 2015 — Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) secured the gold medal for the second year running in the A Division girls’ 4x100m relay with a timing of 50.86 seconds at the 56th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships.

HCI powered ahead and edged out most of their competitors after their third runner took the baton. Their anchor runner sealed the victory, outpacing VJC’s anchor runner by about two metres. Victoria Junior College, were forced to settle for second in 51.47 seconds, while Raffles Institution claimed the bronze in 52.09 seconds.

“We achieved our personal best,” said the team.

On their training methods, they commented, “Honestly, we didn’t practise much at our relay passing this year. So, we were quite anxious on how the race would go today. Honestly, we’re very surprised with the results.”

They credited their coach, Mr Lee, who is also a national sprinter, for this win.
