Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Wednesday, April 22, 2015 — Raffles Institution (RI) took the A Division boys’ 4x100m relay gold with a season best time of 43.30 seconds at the 56th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships.

“We’re proud of that,” the team said, referring to the result that provided the team with a season’s best so far.

However, the RI quartet did not enter the race with high confidence. “We were expecting a tough fight from Hwa Chong Institution, because they qualified the fastest in the heats,” they commented.

The team remarked that this achievement extended to their supporters too. “We would like to thank our coach, Mr Melvin Tan, because he believed in us, and also our teammates who told us that we could do it as we were very stressed over the race. We are very grateful to them,” they concluded.

Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) followed in second place with 43.51s while bronze went to the team from Hwa Chong Institution that crossed the finish line in 43.53s.

The A Division boys’ 4x100m relay meet record is 41.65s, set in 2005 by Raffles Junior College.
