Bukit Gombak Stadium, Monday, April 20, 2015 — With a timing of 26.91 seconds, Janine Lim (#122) of Victoria Junior College (VJC) claimed her first A Division girls’ 200m title at the 56th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships.

She burst from the pack and finished nearly a second ahead of the next runner. This timing is slightly slower than that of her heat, which was 26.82 seconds.

Tan Si Wen (#35) of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) bagged silver with a timing of 27.84 seconds, while Claudia Sng (#179) of Hwa Chong Institution claimed bronze in 27.99 seconds.

Janine, who finished second last year with a timing of 27.17 seconds, said, “I’m very thankful for my coach, Miss Yu, and friends for helping me end my season well. I’m especially grateful to my teammate, Kristin Pang, for being such a great support.”

The 10-year record of 25.61 seconds, which was set by National Junior College alumna, Lee Yan Lin, remains unbroken. The hand-timed record of 24.60 seconds was set by Ang Mo Kio Secondary alumna, Prema Govindan, in 1984.
