Singapore Basketball Centre, Friday, January 6, 2015— North Vista came back in the second half to defeat Presbyterian High 55–42 in round two of the North Zone B Division Basketball Championship. North Vista were down by a point at the end of the first half.

Cheng Ye Hui (NV #7) scored a game-high 14 points while his teammate, Darius Ong (#9) added 12 points. Jeryl Neo (PHS #11) scored a team-high nine points while Wee Jin Sheng (PHS #15) added eight points.

The game started with North Vista playing tight defense against Presbyterian High. Despite the tough challenge, Presbyterian High were still able to convert successful attempts to take a 12–11 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Both teams displayed strong fundamentals and were able to make accurate passes with little turnovers. The ball movement was very smooth for both teams. Sim Xuan (NV #8) had a fast break opportunity and converted an and-one. The quarter was generally very fast paced and intense as both teams did not allow easy baskets to be scored. Presbyterian High held on to their slim one-point lead at the end of the half.

Jeryl Neo (PHS #11) opened the third quarter with a three pointer. Ryan Tan (PHS #12) followed with a cut through two North Vista players for a drive to the basket. Christian Pepito (NV #4) responded with a display of his quick handles, shaking off a few opponents along the way and finishing with an easy layup. Jeryl (PHS #11) continued to penetrate North Vista’s tight defense. Darius Ong (NV #9) responded through a good set-up play by Sim Zhen (NV #13) and Nicholas Tay (NV #6). North Vista outscored Presbyterian High 20–13 in the quarter to take a 40–34 lead.

North Vista was caught off guard when Wee Jin Sheng (PHS #15) knocked down an alley-oop off a pass from Eugene Han (PHS #8). Nicholas (NV #6) and Sim Xuan (NV #8) shot back-to-back three pointers. Presbyterian High had the chance to catch up with North Vista but they committed some turnovers, allowing North Vista to widen the gap. North Vista eventually claimed the 55–42 victory.

Sim Zhen (NV #13), said, “Our three pointers are still not on form today but our two pointers were good. We have to work harder on our defenses. We also have to lower the amount of turnovers. In our team, there isn’t a best player but everyone contributed well to the team. It is a team effort that helped our game.”
