POL-ITE Basketball Championship TP vs RP

ITE College West, Friday, October 31, 2014 — Defending champions Temasek Polytechnic (TP) won all their games, retaining their Polytechnic-Institute of Technical Education (POL-ITE) Basketball Championship title. Singapore Polytechnic (SP) finished second with a single loss, while Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) followed in third place.

Capitalising on a 22-point third quarter blitz, TP defeated Republic Polytechnic 44–21 in their season-concluding game. Pauline Ang (#15) led TP with 10 points.

SP survived an early scare by ITE to defeat the latter 60–54, securing a second-placed finish. Diane Seow (#10) led SP with 13 points, while Iffah Syafiqah Imran (#9) and Debbie Ngo (#12) scored 10 points each. ITE held a comfortable lead in the first half, but a third quarter SP comeback determined the victory. SP outscored ITE 19–11 in the third.

Third-placed NYP beat Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) 67–52 in the earlier game. Lew Shu Ying (#6) and Tan Ee Ni (#7) carried NYP on offence, as the pair combined for 47 of NYP’s 67 points. NYP only trailed in the opening quarter.
