POL-ITE Basketball Championship TP vs RP

ITE College West, Friday, October 31, 2014 — Temasek Polytechnic (TP) ended their Polytechnic-Institute of Technical Education (POL-ITE) Basketball Championship season on a flawless note, winning all five of their games to clinch the title. Republic Polytechnic (RP) finished second with a single loss, while Institute of Technical Education (ITE) followed in third place.

A 58–54 Temasek Polytechnic (TP) victory over defending champions Republic Polytechnic (RP) was the highlight of the final day of games. Lim Fang Cie (#28) led TP with 16 points, while Leon Kwek (#6), Toh Qing Huang (#7) and Lim Boon Kiat (#77) combined for 47 of RP’s 54 points.

TP never held the lead until the 37th minute through a pair of free throws by Myron Lim (#27). Thng Jun Rong (#7) and Lim Fang Cie (#28) were unstoppable in the remaining frame as they sparked a 7–0 run to seal the victory for TP.

ITE defeated Singapore Polytechnic (SP) 45–28 to end their season with a 3–2 win-loss record. ITE’s offence centred around Kelvin Lim (#13), who put up a sterling performance on both ends of the court. Kelvin Lim (#13) had a well-rounded game, dominating the boards and tallying several blocks. He also led ITE with 13 points.

In the earlier game, Remus Low (#9) scored a team-high 21 points to lead Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) to a 64–48 victory over Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). NYP ended their season with a fourth-placed finish.
