Singapore Institute of Management, Monday, September 29, 2014 — National University of Singapore (NUS) defeated Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) 85–9, clinching their fourth Singapore University Games (SUniG) Netball Championship title.
The four-time champions concluded their flawless season with the victory, while SUTD have a 1–3 win-loss record, with a game remaining.
NUS established their dominance in the game right from the start, holding SUTD to single-digit scoring in each quarter. Throughout the game, NUS pushed the tempo of the game on both ends, outplaying SUTD with their speed and size.
NUS captain, Grace Seow, said, “I’m very very proud of my team for retaining the title, which was our goal from the start. I’m just glad that we had the opportunity to play with all the schools.”
The first-placed finish helped secure NUS a berth in the Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Games, where they look to defend their title as well.
“We will get right back to training after our short break from the SUniG season. We still have to work on our plays, defence, shooting and everything, as we hope to defend our IVP title as well,” added the NUS student.
SUTD will next face Nanyang Technological University in their season concluding game on Wednesday, September 29. The game will be played at 7.20 p.m. at Singapore Institute of Management.
