South Korea, Friday, September 25, 2014 — Singapore’s mixed doubles pair of Chayut Triyachart and Yao Lei, and men’s singles representative Derek Wong got knocked out in the round-of-16 earlier today. Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Vanessa Neo, Singapore’s top mixed doubles pair, kept hopes alive however as they secured a 2–1 (21–18, 21–23, 21–15) win over India’s Attri Manu and Nelakurthi Sikki Reddy to progress into the quarter-finals, where they will meet second-seeded Xu Chen and Ma Jin of China tomorrow.

Chayut and Yao Lei lost 0–2 (13–21, 15–21) to fourth seeds, Ko Sunghyun and Kim Hana of South Korea. Derek lost 0–2 (15–21, 14–21) to seventh seed, Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei.

South Korea, Thursday, September 24, 2014 — In the mixed doubles round-of-32, Singapore’s top mixed doubles pairing of Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Vanessa Neo, seeded 6th for the Asiad and world-ranked 10th, beat their Malaysian opponents Chan Peng Soon and Ng Hui Lin 2–1 (21–15, 6–21, 21–15) to progress into the round-of-16.

Danny and Vanessa are joined in the round-of-16 by Singapore teammates, Chayut Triyachart and Yao Lei, who took 42 minutes to despatch their Indian opponents Dewalkar Akshay and Gadre Pradnya 2–1 (22–20, 17–21, 21–13).

After the exertions of their earlier matches in the mixed doubles competition, Chayut Triyachart and Danny Bawa Chrisnanta teamed up for what was each their second matches in a day in the men’s doubles. They fell 0–2 to South Korea’s world-ranked fifth men’s doubles pairing of Kim Sarang and Kim Gijung to exit the competition in the round-of-16.

Derek Wong, who won silver at the Commonwealth Games in August, took just 22 minutes to win his men’s singles round-of-32 match 2–1 (21–5, 21–16) against Pakistan’s Muhammad Irfan Saeed Bhatti.

South Korea, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 — The Singapore men’s doubles pair of Chayut Triyachart and Danny Bawa Chrisnanta triumphed over Afghanistan’s Iqbal Ahmad Shekib and Meri Sayed Emran to advance into the round-of-16. It was a comfortable 2–0 (21–5, 21–12) victory for the Singapore duo.

Singapore’s world-ranked 15th women’s doubles pairing of Yao Lei and Shinta Mulia Sari fell at the round-of-32, however, when they lost 1–2 (21–13, 15–21, 17–21) to Macau’s world-ranked 96th Wang Rong and Zhang Zhibo.
