Incheon, Sunday, September 21, 2014 — Joseph Schooling clocked a timing of 1 minute and 57.54 seconds to finish third in the men’s 200 metre butterfly final to clinch Singapore’s second medal at the Incheon Asian Games.

The last time a Singaporean won an Asian Games swimming medal was 1990 when Ang Peng Siong captured the 50m freestyle silver in Beijing.

The gold and silver medals were won by Japan’s Daiya Seto and Kenta Hirai in 1 minute and 54.08 seconds and 1 minute and 55.47 seconds respectively.

Schooling’s timing of 1 minute and 57.54 seconds bettered his timing of 1 minute and 59.92 seconds in the heats, where he was placed fifth overall.
