Singapore Basketball Centre, Wednesday, April 30, 2014 — Anderson Junior College (AJC) defeated Anglo-Chinese School (International) (ACS (Int)) 102–21 in the National A Division Boys Basketball Championship. ACS played the game with only six men in the team.

Max Ong (AJC #11) paced his team with 19 points, while Nik Darmali (ACS #16) had a team-high 10 points.

AJC were leading 11–6 midway through the first quarter, when Nik Darmali (ACS #16) scored one on the key to add two onto the scoreboard. Thereafter, AJC converted a freethrow and an underbasket to go to 14–8. On the following transition, Nik’s (ACS #16) shot on the key made its mark again (14–10). Towards the end of the quarter, ACS made several mis-passes and AJC capitalized on their mistakes to go on fast breaks, registering a 12–0 scoring run solely from transition offenses. AJC led 26–10 at the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, ACS pulled down a few offensive rebounds but were unable to convert them into points. They also tried to find the range with their shots, but missed several times in a row. Pressured by AJC’s aggressive defence, ACS’s ball rotation was not fluid and the players were unable to find their teammates with most of their passes.

On the other hand, AJC continued to go for loose balls, scoring easy twos from layups. Six minutes into the quarter, Nik (ACS #16) converted an offensive rebound despite strong pressure from his defenders to put in the first two points for ACS. Lin Enyi (ACS #12) converted another one after that. ACS trailed 14–50 going into the halftime break.

In the second half, Nik (ACS #16) nailed two jumpers and Nguyen Le Duy (ACS #97) sank one 3-pointer on the wing. They were the only scorers for the team. On the other hand, AJC went on strong drives during offensive plays to put in points for their side consistently. Playing with only six men on the team, the ACS players were seemingly overwhelmed with fatigue in the second half. The team appeared to be disjointed especially towards the end of the game and were unable to recover quickly for defence when AJC went on fast breaks. AJC managed to break the 100-point mark in the final minute of the game to beat ACS 102–21.

ACS captain, Nik (#16) said, “It was not too good. We tried to play our best with six players. Most of our players are injured, so we only have six and gave our 100% for the game. We want to play a full game, so we tried our best without fouling them. We’re not up to standard with only six players.”
