St. Andrew’s Junior College, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 — Saint Andrew’s Junior College (SAJC) beat Dunman High 3–0 in their opening first round game of the National A Division Boys Football Championship.

Dunman High started the game off well on defence. SAJC were prodding the Dunman High defence, as they tried to find a way through. However, Dunman High were able to respond in time and clear each attack.

SAJC enjoyed the majority of the possession early on, as the ball remained stuck in Dunman High’s half. SAJC finally opened the scoring through Teng Kok Kuin (SAJC #10). He cut in from the left wing into the penalty box, before coolly slotting it past the keeper.

Soon after, SAJC found themselves presented with another scoring opportunity. Ehvin Sasi (SAJC #3) earned a penalty when he was chopped down after beating his marker in the box. Koh Kit Shen (SAJC #5) showed good composure to convert the penalty, scoring down the middle for a 2–0 lead.

Goh Yu Fen (SAJC #10) rounded off SAJC’s strong first half with another goal. Kok Kuin (SAJC #10) pulled the ball across the goal after a good run, finding Yu Fen (SAJC #10) open in the middle to tap it in.

The second half saw SAJC continue their onslaught on the Dunman High goal. They had about seven attempts on goal that were on target, but could not score with any of them.

On the other hand, the SAJC keeper rarely found himself called into action. He suffered a minor scare when Dunman (#9)’s shot beat him from long range, only for the crossbar to save him.

In the end, SAJC finished 3–0 winners for a 1–0 win–loss record in the group. They will face River Valley High next on Friday, April 4, at SAJC at 4.45pm.
