Republic Polytechnic, Monday, March 31, 2014 — Dunman Secondary (DSS) triumphed 33–10 over Bukit Panjang Government High (BPGHS) to qualify for Round 2 of the National B Division Netball Championship.

The first quarter saw swift play by Dunman as they built a 7–4 lead with precision in their passes to avoid interception.

The second quarter saw Bukit Panjang wilt in defense and they lost possession most of the time and the ball did not move beyond their half court. At one point, Dunman scored five straight points, and they led 16–6 at half time.

The third quarter saw Bukit Panjang try to mirror Dunman in swift and accurate passing but Dunman maintained their lead as they used their court space effectively.

Trailing 8–25 heading into the final quarter, Bukit Panjang found themselves under consistent pressure from Dunman. Nerves got the better of them and they wasted scoring opportunities.

Dunman outscored Bukit Panjang 8–2 in the final quarter to secure their win.

Insyirah, captain of Dunman, said: “I think we deserved the win because we worked very hard. The win could be attributed to various factors, namely that of better communication [as compared to previous games] as well as the intercepts made by the defenders.”
