Physical Education and Sports Education Branch, Thursday, February 20, 2014 — Jurong Secondary beat Regent Secondary 22–5 to complete their preliminary group games undefeated in the National B Division Rugby Championship.
Jurong won all four of their group games and outscored their four opponents 177–15.
Jurong opened the season with a 15–10 win over Junyuan Secondary. Their next game against Montfort Secondary saw them come away with a 60–0 win.
In their third game, they defeated Bukit Batok Secondary 80–0.
Adriel Goh, captain of Bukit Batok, felt that their lackluster performance against Jurong was a disappointment. He commented, “We didn’t do our best. We were just running after our opponent for the ball but we didn’t get to do much. Instead of walking for say, one quarter of the match, we should continuing jogging and running for the ball, and continue winning the rucks.”
After the game against Bukit Batok, Md Syafiq (Jurong #15), captain of Jurong, said, “I would like the team to play better. As a team, we have targeted to win the whole championship for this year as last year, we managed to make it to the finals, but unfortunately we lost, so we’ll try to pick up from there and take it as the motivation to win the championship for this year.”
Jurong will face Peirce Secondary in one bowl semi-final while Evergreen Secondary will take on Regent in the other.
