Clementi Sports Hall, Friday, February 28, 2014 — Jurongville Secondary (JVS) ended their season on a high note by beating Bukit Batok Secondary (BBS) 50–34 in the second round of the B Division Boys Basketball Championship.
Hartley Muze (JVS #12) led all scorers with 17 points, while Alvin Ter (BBS #13) paced his team with 15 points.
Jurongville finish with a 1-4 win-loss record in Group Y.
The first quarter was a low-scoring affair, as both teams struggled to make their shots. Bukit Batok drew first blood, scoring on a couple of lay-ups. But that was all they could get in the quarter as Jurongville would go on a 12–0 run to end up with an eight-point lead.
The second quarter saw Jurongville gingerly maintain their lead, matching Bukit Batok basket for basket. Neither team made a significant push to try and take control of the game.
Jurongville continued to extend the lead in the third quarter. They went on an 8–0 run to give themselves an 18–point lead. Alwin (JVS #4) had a good play, showing good awareness to poke the ball away and make the steal.
Bukit Batok had a minor resurgence in the final quarter, scoring on multiple fast breaks to cut the deficit. But it was too late to stop Jurongville ending up 50–34 victors.
Jurongville player, Xing Han (#9), said, “I think our defence in the third quarter was not good enough. We also did not convert a lot of chances. We hope to make the second round again next year and hopefully reach top four.”
