National Sailing Centre, Friday-Sunday, February 28-March 2, 2014 — Max Victor Teo Li Chen won the silver fleet gold medal at the Optimist Open Championships with a total of 22 points after eight races.

The Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) sailor won four bullets or first positions out of eight races. Even though he claimed the championship title, he felt he under-performed compared to previous competitions. “My school has high hopes for me, (and) so do the gold fleeters,” said Max. He also added he hopes to “be able to do better in other regattas.”

Coming in second and third were Athena Tan and Nickolas Yip of Tao Nan School respectively.

“In inter-schools, our strongest competitor will be Tao Nan,” said Max.

Raffles Institution sailor Daniel Ian Toh finished first place in the gold fleet with a total of 76 points after nine races. Coming in second was Jodie Lai with 88 points.

Matthias Lin emerged as the champion in the 12-and-under category, and placed seventh overall with 127 points. Coming in second in the same category was Lee Wonn Kye with 151 points and Jonathan Lio following close behind with 160.
