Bishan Sports Hall, Friday, April 26, 2013 — Nicolette Lim of Singapore Chinese Girls’ School (SCGS) claimed the individual all-around B Division gold at the National Schools Artistic Gymnastics Championships with a score of 50.950. Janessa Dai of Nanyang Girls’ High took the silver with 46.075 while Ashley Lau Wei-Ning of Raffles Girls’ School settled for bronze with 45.900.

Nicolette of SCGS, who began training for gymnastics at the tender age of nine, topped both the vault and floor exercise events to score 13.100 and 12.500 respectively. Nicolette performed the yurchenko layout for her vault event.

Janessa’s 13.075 for the balance beam earned her a gold for Nanyang while Zeng Qi Yan, the sole contender from Singapore Sports School, grabbed the gold for the uneven bars with 11.150.

For the team component, RGS clinched first position, with SCGS coming in second and MGS attaining third.

“I feel happy that I managed to clinch the gold in the IAA as well as two other apparatus. I really wanted to make this inter-school competition my best one among the four years of my secondary school journey and I’m glad that my hard work has paid off. Though there’s still room for much more improvement, I’m quite happy with my progress compared to my inter-school last year,” said Nicolette.
