Singapore Badminton Hall, Monday, April 15, 2013 — Nanyang Girls’ High beat River Valley High 3–2 to emerge third in the National B Division Girls’ Badminton Championship.

Nanyang Girls’ secured their first two victories comfortably with Chin Wei Yee winning her singles match and teammates Crystal Kwok and Tan Si Jia winning their doubles.

However, in the third match, Lee Shu En from River Valley successfully made a comeback against Joanne Ng from Nanyang Girls’ and secured her team’s first point.

In the fourth match, Nanyang Girls’ recovered with Angel Sun and Shernice Sim triumphing over Yu Yi and Tan Li Lin from River Valley. It was a closely matched game as Nanyang Girls’ had a mere one-point lead in the early stages. With the players stepping up, their lead gradually increased and Nanyang Girls’ won the first game 21–15. In the second game, Yu Yi and Li Lin put up a strong fight but still trailed Angel and Shernice. Finally, Nanyang Girls’ came through to win the second game 21–17 to secure the winning point.

In the last match, despite the three losses her team had suffered, Sandy Chua from River Valley fought on and managed to beat Rachel Lim of Nanyang Girls’.

The final match of the National B Division Girls Badminton Championship will be played on Wednesday, April 25, 2013, between Raffles Girls’ School and Singapore Sports School.
