Singapore Basketball Centre, Monday, February 18, 2013 – Seng Kang Secondary continued their winning streak from the preliminary round with a 56-41 win over Deyi Secondary in Round 2 of the North Zone B Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.
Seng Kang had the lead from start to finish and led 26-17 at half time.
Donovan Wong (#9) of Seng Kang had a game-high 23 points while Krish Loy (#11) of Deyi had a team-high 14.
The first quarter was tight, with both teams unable to finish at times. Two 3-pointers by Donovan Wong helped Seng Kang to a 12-11 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Seng Kang dominated more in the second quarter. While Deyi captain Krish Loy (#11) tried his best to rally his team, Seng Kang pulled ahead even further to lead 26-17 at half time.
A 17-11 third quarter gave Seng Kang a 15-point (42-28) lead heading into the fourth. A more even fourth quarter saw Deyi match Seng Kang point for point but there was no question of Seng kang losing the game.
“After throwing back a few points, I felt that my team sort of gave up,” said Deyi’s captain, Krish.
Krish added that his team needed improvement in various aspects and that his team could have done better.
Seng Kang captain, Alvin To (#8), said: “We had good defense and offense today. However, we need to work on our stamina and be able to run back faster.”
Both captains unanimously agreed that North Vista Secondary were strong contenders for a semi-final spot, along with possible candidates Sengkang Secondary and Canberra Secondary.
