NUS University Town EduSports Hall, Friday, February 1, 2013 – Nanyang Technological University (NTU) beat Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) 62-55 in the final of the Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Women’s Basketball Championship.
It was NTU’s second title and third appearance in an IVP final in the last four years.
For NYP, their best finish previously was third place in the 2011 season.
NTU made it to the semi-finals after topping a their Round 1 group with a perfect 4-0, win-loss record with wins over Temasek Polytechnic (TP), Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and Singapore Institute of Management (SIM).
In the semi-finals, NTU beat defending champions, Republic Polytechnic (RP), 81-54 to claim their place in the final.
For NYP, they also won their Round 1 group with a perfect 4-0 record with wins over RP, National University of Singapore (NUS), Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and Singapore Management University (SMU).
In the semi-finals, NYP overcame TP by a single point, 62-61.
TP finished third in the championship with a 59-56 win over RP.
