Clementi Sports Hall, Monday, June 25, 2012 — New Town Secondary opened their West Zone C Division Basketball campaign with a convincing 49-20 victory over Kranji Secondary.

New Town led 21-5 at half time.

The Kranji #11 opened the scoring with a 3-pointer but it was New Town that dominated the match from the start. Good game-play and superb teamwork ensured that they never stood a challenge from Kranji, who only scored two points in the second quarter.

New Town’s Wan Min Xiong (#10) topped the scoreboard with his accuracy, scoring a game-high 27 points, mainly from lay-ups. Team-mates, New Town captain, Denilson Soh Cai Jun (#7), and Leong Daniel (#8) were also constant threats.

Kranji, on the other hand, could not break down the New Town defence and unforced errors prevented them from scoring more.

In their next matches on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, Kranji needs a victory against Hwa Chong to secure a place in the second round while New Town faces Assumption English School.
