Kallang Squash Centre, Wednesday, April 18, 2012 — Singapore Chinese Girls’ School (SCGS), led by two prized Secondary One recruits, scored a narrow 3-2 victory over perennial rivals and defending champions, Raffles Girls’ School (RGS) to win the National C Division Girls’ Squash Championship after a two-year hiatus.

Steffi Chan and Au-Yeong Wai Yhann, ranked second and third respectively in the national under-15 category, have been competing and winning against girls a couple of years older than themselves since they were in primary school. Hence, hopes were high in SCGS that both girls would chose to join the same school after their PSLE examination last year and they did not disappoint.

Neither girl has yet to lose a match in this year’s championship and they managed to maintain their winning form in the final.

After SCGS lost their first match, Nikki Pang, playing the second match of the tie, leveled the score for SCGS before Steffi and Wai Yhann beat their respective opponents to secure victory for their school.

With both girls still available for the C Division championship next year, SCGS should be the team to beat in 2013.
