National Sailing Centre, Tuesday, April 17, 2012 — It is once again that time of the year, the only time where 374 sailors from 48 schools in Singapore, will gather together at the National Sailing Centre for four days of unparalleled competition.

The C and A Division girls race today and tomorrow while the B and A division boys will race on Thursday and Friday.

This year, as with past years, the National Schools Sailing Championship will certainly serve tons of shore side excitement as school supporters, parents and alumni are expected to watch in baited breath over who will emerge victorious.

It is going to be intense as the stakes are high. It is not just the medals that are up for grabs. The reputation of the schools are on the line and the sailors are definitely going to give everything they have got, and more.

The sailors will be contesting in the following categories:
Optimist for junior and senior (boys and girls)
Byte for C and B Division (boys and girls)
Laser and 420 for A Division (boys and girls)

This year’s event will see the sailors battling for honours within a time frame of one hour and twenty minutes for the leading boat. The races will be held in three race areas off the National Sailing Centre. The courses used will be similar
to that used at the Olympic Games — trapezoid courses that will put the sailors’ skills to the test.

Racing starts at 10am each day.
