B Div Bball: New Town beat Anglican High 53-27 for 2nd win

Clementi Sports Hall, Wednesday, March 28, 2012 — New Town Secondary beat Anglican High 53-27 for their second win in the National B Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.

The win means New Town are through to Round 2 and also leaves them in a good position to top their group with a final game against Yishun Secondary next.

Anglican High drop to a 1-1 win-loss record after winning their opening national championship game against Yishun Secondary 51-45. Anglican High and Yishun will vie for the second and final qualifying spot in their group and who goes through will depend on the results of their respective final group games.

New Town, who finished fourth in the West Zone, dominated the first quarter 11-2 and led 19-7 at the half-time break. A 20-8 third-quarter performance gave them a massive 24-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Shawn Tay (New Town #12) had a game-high 12 points and the whole New Town lineup except for two players got on the scoresheet.
