Clementi Sports Hall, Wednesday, March 28, 2012 — Presbyterian High beat Serangoon Secondary 64-34 to register their second victory in the National B Division Boys’ Basketball Championship. Presbyterian High, who finished second in the North Zone, opened their national championship campaign with a 50-35 victory over Dunearn Secondary.
For Serangoon Garden, this is their second loss in a row and they are out of the running for the next round. They lost 17-90 to to defending national champions Dunman Secondary in their opening game.
Presbyterian High set the pace early, holding Serangoon Garden to just two points in the first quarter to lead 16-2 after 10 minutes. While the scoring was more even in the second quarter, Presbyterian High still led by 17 points (30-13) at the break.
Presbyterian stretched that lead further to 21 points after three quarters and in the final quarter, they put together their highest-scoring quarter of 19 points on the back of three 3-pointers by Jonas Tay (2) and Hai Yang.
Serangoon Garden will play Dunearn in their final group game while Presbyterian High will next face Dunman in a game to determine who will top their group.
