Pasig City, Philippines, Wednesday, March 14, 2012 – The Singapore Slingers’ slump continued when they went down 65-75 to the San Miguel Beermen in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).

This was the Slingers’ seventh straight loss and dropped them to a 4-8 win-loss record. The Beermen are a league-leading 9-3.

Slinger Louis Graham led all scoring with 25 points and 10 rebounds while teammate Donald Little had 18 points. However, both players also combined for 13 of 21 turnovers. The two Americans did not get a lot of help in scoring, especially in the first two quarters, as between them, they scored 22 of the Slingers’ 28 points before the half-time break.

Wong Wei Long was the only other player in the squad who reached double digits with 13 points while Don Dulay, who had a career high night against the Beermen last month, finished with only three points tonight.

Dalron Johnson led the Beermen with 19 points and 13 rebounds, Jarrid Famous finished with 17 points and Ryan Joseph Rizada added 11 points from the bench.

The Beermen had a fast start, leading 21-9 at the end of first quarter but the Slingers charged back in the second quarter behind Louis Graham who made 10 points. The Slingers successfully held the Beermen to just 10 points in the second quarter and cut their deficit to 28-31 going into half time.

The Beermen made a 9-0 run late in the third quarter with a two-point shot by Benedict Fernandez stretching the Beermen’s lead to 14 points (50-36) with 2:38 left in the third. Dalron Johnson scored nine points in this quarter as the Beermen took a 52-41 lead going into the final quarter.

Leo Avenido then scored five straight points to give the Beermen their biggest lead of 16 (62-46) in the game with 5:56 left in the game. Then it was Jarrid Famous’ turn to show his teammates what he can do with three dunks in the last five minutes to help the Beermen claim their ninth win of the season.

The Slingers’ final game on the road is against the Thailand Slammers on Sunday, March 18th, in Bangkok.
