The Float@Marina Bay, Singapore, February 26, 2012 — Ang Chee Yong took top honours in the 10km + Vertical Climb Men’s Open category with a winning time of 40 minutes 53.27 seconds. In second place was Foo Gen Lin and in joint third place were Ivan Low and Philip S/O Ramachandran.
Chee Yong, 33, said: “I am thrilled to come in first place this year and improve on my third place from 2011. I had a great competition today with Foo Gen Lin who came in second place and who has become a good friend of mine since last year’s U Run.”
In the 10km + Vertical Climb Women’s Open category, Michele Tan was first out of the 31-storey climb to the top of the NTUC Centre at One Marina Boulevard, in a winning time of 51:05.58. In second place was Stephanie Hulbert, with Carolyn Pryor in third.
The winner of the 10km Men’s Open category was Fang Jianyong, with a time of 35:54.08, with second and third places going to Melvin Wong and Fabian Ng respectively.
In the 10km Women’s Open category, Qi Hui was first, in a time of 36:57.16, with Vivian Tang in second, followed by Deborah Jean Livingston in third place.
U Run 2012, the Labour Movement’s signature running event, is part of the U Games 2011/12, a multi-sports competition for the Labour Movement, to promote sportsmanship among the affiliate unions and to foster camaraderie among members. In addition to U Games, U Sports also provides a host of other sporting activities, sports clinics and competitions for union members as well as for the general public.
