Jalan Besar Stadium, Saturday, January 7, 2012 – The Singapore LionsXII secured a second major sponsor from local brand, SilkPro, for their campaign across the Causeway in the Malaysian Super League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup.

The cash and kind sponsorship, worth S$1 million according to the sponsor, will see the SilkPro branding placed on the back of the LionsXII jersey.

StarHub is the principal sponsor of the LionsXII and their branding is featured on the front of the LionsXII jersey.

LionsXII vice-captain, Hariss Harun, and goalkeeper, Izwan Mahbud, were on hand to model the jerseys with the sponsor’s branding.

Tohtonku Pte Ltd, the maker of SilkPro, sees the sponsorship as part of its corporate social responsibility program for the year.

Said Mr Calvin Lee, the chief executive officer of the company: “While winning is always good, what is more important is that the rivalry in the matches unites our people, bonds the nation and puts both countries on a friendship map.”

The company will also sponsor tickets for single parents and children through the HELP Family Service Centre and Singapore Women Muslim Association.

Said Mdm Maznah Masop, the CEO of the Singapore Women Muslim Association: “It’s definitely rewarding for the low income families as it is not often that they get to enjoy watching paid events or games. Hence it will be a good opportunity for them to spend quality time with their family through watching these soccer matches together.”

All tickets for tonight’s opening game between the LionsXII and Kelantan are sold out.
