SAJC, Monday, May 23, 2011 — In a game that went into extra time, St Andrew’s Junior College beat Raffles Institution 1-0 to wrap up third place in the National A Division Football Championship. SAJC were last year’s beaten finalists.
RI almost won it in regulation time but goalkeeper Nigel Tham (SAJC #24) tipped the ball onto the bar to deny captain Jayden Ong (RI #11) a last-minute winner from a direct free-kick.
Muhammad Syafiq Bidin (SAJC #5) scored the only goal of the game in the second half of extra-time when he beat the offside trap to knock in the winning goal.
