Clementi Sports Hall, Friday, April 8, 2011 — Singapore Chinese Girls’ School beat Nanyang Girls’ High 51-42 to register their first second round win in Group Y of the National B Division Girls’ Basketball Championship.

SCGS are now unbeaten in 10 games, with their first seven wins coming from their South Zone campaign where they finished as champions.

SCGS led 27-11 at half-time but a third quarter where they were outscored 12-2 saw them lead only by six (29-23) to start the fourth.

Nanyang Girls’ then tied it up 37-37 after four quarters but SCGS rode a 14-5 overtime to eventual victory.

In the other Group Y game played on the same day, Jurong West beat Christ Church Secondary 32-23.

SCGS, the South Zone champions, will next take on Christ Church on April 19th while Nanyang Girls’, who finished third in the West Zone, will play Jurong West Secondary.

In Group X, Anglican High eased to a 48-16 win over Dunman High while a much closer was played out when East Zone champions Dunman Secondary beat West Zone champions Unity Secondary 58-50.

Dunman High will next play Unity on Monday, April 18th, while Dunman Secondary will play Anglican High, also on the same day.
