Singapore Turf Club Riding Centre, Friday, August 20, 2010 — Singapore’s Caroline Chew teamed up with four other Asian riders to produce a flawless performance in the second round of the Team Jumping event in the Youth Olympic Games equestrian competition.

Caroline, as well as Kazahkstan’s Timur Patarov and United Arab Emirates’ Sheikh Ali Abdulla Majid Alqassimi, did not incur any penalty points in today’s round. Syria’s Mohamad Alanzarouti and Qatari Abdurahman Al Marri chalked up four and eight points respectively, but they were not added to the team total.

The best three results from the team of five will only be taken into account for the scoring.

Team Asia’s 12 penalty points in the first round meant that they finished the event in fourth place. The teams from Australasia, Africa and Europe had four penalty points each in both rounds, and were tied for first place with eight.

Team Europe won the jump-off to clinch the gold.

18-year-old Caroline, whose competition horse is named Gatineau, will begin her individual campaign with the first round of jumping on Sunday, August 22nd.
