Kiel, Germany, June 24-28, 2010 — Singapore sailors won two events at the 2010 Kieler Woche event, part of the ISAF Sailing World Cup series, which concluded yesterday in Kiel, Germany.

Sailors Teo Wee Chin and Justin Wong, both 23 years of age, led the fleet of 28 boats to win the Hobie 16 event with a consistent point score of 1, 2, (4), 2, 1, 2, 1, culminating in a total of nine points. Fellow team mates Low Wen Chun, 20, and Jonathan Russel Chew, 19, were hot on their heels in second place with a total of 13 points.

Five-time Kieler Woche competitors Justin Liu, 19, and Sherman Cheng, 18, who finished third in the 2009 edition of Kieler Woche and second in 2008 in the 29er class, dominated the fleet of 194 boats to emerge as the winners of the 420 event.

Close behind them in fourth position were Ko Chuan Yang, 18, and Andrew Paul Chan, 17, who are making their debut in Kiel. Rachel Lee, 16, and Cecilia Low, 19, finished a credible fifth as the top Singaporean girls pair.

The Kieler Woche is one of the two selection events for the sailors vying for the Asian Games in the following classes: 420 Female, 470 Female, Hobie 16 Open and RSX Male.
