National Runway Cycling and Skating is back for the 15th year to celebrate Father’s Day with NSmen and families with a new spin.

This year, participants of the Shimano Polygon Endurance Cycling and Endurance Skating categories will also receive a timing device, limited edition endurance t-shirt, a finisher medal and a personalised certificate with their individual timing.

The endurance categories have gained popularity in recent years and organisers hope that these enhancements will help participants track their individual progress as they challenge themselves. Registration for the Endurance categories closes on June 7th while registration for the leisure categories closes on June 16th.

To promote closer bonds between fathers and their children, a special segment of fun-filled activities featuring more than 10 childhood games commonly played in each decade since the 1950s have been planned.

Jointly organised by SAFRA and the Republic of Singapore Air Force, the event will be held on Father’s Day again this year on Sunday, June 20th, 2010, in conjunction with National Family Celebrations. Families will have the opportunity to participate in a friendly competition of Giant Snake and Ladder, marbles, hopscotch and many others.

Mr Donald Tan, Deputy CEO (Business Strategies), SAFRA, commented: “We hope that families will take this opportunity to get together for a day of fun and celebrate Father’s Day in a unique way at the National Runway Cycling and Skating event. Through these games, fathers will be able to bond with their children as they share a piece of their fond childhood memories with them.”

Besides spinning down the runway on their bikes and skates, families are also in for a visual treat with a host of fringe activities planned for the Carnival segment, including the static display of an F-15SG Aircraft and stunt bike performances. The event will be held at Paya Lebar Air Base.
