Toa Payoh Stadium, Monday, March 8, 2010 - The woes of bottom-placed Albirex Niigata continued as they fell to Balestier Khalsa 1-0 in an S.League match.
A goal from Anantha Rajan (Balestier Khalsa #9) in the 22nd minute was enough to propel the home team to second spot in the S.League table with six points, one point behind leaders Tampines Rovers who have a game in hand. The White Swans remain at the bottom with only one point from four games played.
However, victory came with a price. Balestier Khalsa picked up four yellow cards, with goal scorer Anantha Rajan being dealt the first in the 50th minute. Paul Cunningham (Balestier Khalsa # 4) picked up his second yellow card of the season in the 79th minute, while Poh Yi Feng (Balestier Khalsa #17) was booked just three minutes from time.
Goalkeeper Ahmadulhaq Che Omar (Balestier Khalsa #1) was also shown a card in the 90th minute. Albirex managed to keep a clean disciplinary record for the match.
